Welcome to Elder Martin Publishing!

Updated: Dec 6, 2024

Your New Favorite for Geeky Goodness

Dear Adventurers, Tinkerers, and Downtime Enthusiasts,

First of all, thank you for stopping by. Whether you stumbled here on purpose, through a mysterious portal, or simply clicked because you thought "Elder Martin" might be a new D&D subclass, I’m glad you’re here.

Allow me to introduce myself: I’m Erika, a lifelong geek, D&D enthusiast, and your friendly neighborhood science nerd turned fantasy author. I started Elder Martin Publishing as a haven for those of us who love diving into the nitty-gritty of tabletop role-playing games. Our first big project, The Downtime Codex, is all about giving players and GMs the tools they need to explore the "everything else" of D&D—the adventures between the adventures.

Let’s face it: downtime is the unsung hero of storytelling. You can only swing swords at goblins for so long before someone has to go shopping, rebuild their stronghold, or figure out what that cursed magical item actually does. That’s where The Downtime Codex comes in, with easy-to-use mechanics, tables, and ideas to make downtime as engaging as dungeon-crawling.

A Quest for Updates

This space will serve as our town square, a place for updates on The Downtime Codex’s development, sneak peeks at future projects (spoiler alert: there are a lot of ideas bubbling in my cauldron), and perhaps the occasional geeky ramble. Think of it as your party's notice board, but with fewer "find my lost goat" quests and more ways to level up your storytelling.

I also want to make this a community space. Feedback, ideas, and your own downtime shenanigans are always welcome. Share your tales, whether they’re about crafting epic potions or negotiating with stubborn NPC merchants.

Thanks for the XP

Before I sign off, I want to thank you again for being here. In the vast dungeon that is the internet, you’ve wandered into this little room of treasure (or mimic—we’ll find out). Your support, even if it’s just reading this far, fuels the magic behind Elder Martin Publishing.

If you’re as excited about The Downtime Codex as I am—or if you just want to know what’s next—stay tuned! More updates, resources, and maybe even a freebie or two are coming your way. In the meantime, may your dice roll true and your snacks never run out mid-session.

Yours from across the realms,

Erika
