What’s New with The Downtime Codex!

New Subtitle!

Dear Adventurers, Tinkerers, and Downtime Enthusiasts,

It’s official: the title of my book has been simplified! The Downtime Codex, Expanding Your World Beyond Adventure is now The Downtime Codex, Expanding Your Adventure. Why the change? Well, I realized the original subtitle, while descriptive, might have given the (completely unintended) impression that downtime wasn’t part of the adventure. And let’s be real—downtime is the adventure. The new subtitle is shorter, snappier, and hopefully clearer to potential readers.

Speaking of changes (and the many other joys of editing), this past weekend was spent deep in the trenches of table editing. It turns out, tables are both my nemesis and my muse. I could spend hours tweaking cell alignment and debating whether “+2 to skill checks” looks better with or without the parentheses. But don’t worry—it wasn’t all work! I took a much-needed break to paint some minis with new D&D friends. Nothing quite resets the brain like getting lost in details half the size of a fingernail. Also, I may have discovered my new favorite color: Metallic Green!

Of course, the holiday season has slowed things down a bit. Editing around holiday stuffs, shopping, and an unreasonable amount of cookies has been a challenge, but I’m optimistic about the production pace picking up come January. The fresh start of the year feels like the perfect time to dive back in, full steam ahead.

Until then, I’ll be here, balancing the joys of downtime in life and downtime in D&D—because, honestly, they’re not so different.

Yours from across the realms,

Erika
